The iPhone 14 camera was tested by DxOMark. Shoots as good as more expensive Android smartphones
It’s no secret that even the base iPhone models shoot at a very high level. This was once again confirmed by the DxOMark laboratory, which got into the hands of the new iPhone 14. Its cameras were tested up and down.
In total, the smartphone scored 135 points and took 17th place in the ranking of the best camera phones. He left behind such flagships as: Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, Huawei P40, Xiaomi 12T Pro and his older brother iPhone 12 Pro Max. For a device with two 12 MP lenses, not bad.
The photo capabilities of the main camera were rated by experts at 90 points, the device received another 70 points for shooting in portrait mode and 146 points for video. Among the strengths of the iPhone 14, experts noted accurate exposure, fast autofocus, natural color reproduction and a wide dynamic range. Separately, they noted the video stabilization – it even copes with situations where the phone shakes a lot.
However, the iPhone 14 camera is not perfect and sags in some scenarios. So, in pictures taken in low light, artifacts and a high level of noise are noticeable. In addition, the experts were not enthusiastic about the lack of a macro mode in the phone, which is found in more expensive Pro versions.
