American scientists have learned to block chronic back pain

Back pain is one of the most common problems of the modern world, most of humanity suffers from it in one way or another. Especially goes to those who have these pains have become chronic. But medicine does not stand still, the American company Relievant Medsystems has developed a technology called Intracept, which relieves chronic pain in the spine using spot heating.
First, the patient is put into a state of anesthesia, then a small probe is sent to the affected vertebra and the basivertebral nerve is heated using radiofrequency ablation. As a result, the nerve stops sending pain signals to the spinal cord and brain. The procedure itself is simple and takes about an hour.

The technique has been tested with the permission of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) since 2016, and the results of clinical trials are quite successful. Of the 140 subjects, 31% completely said goodbye to pain for as much as 2 years, the rest of the pain decreased by 50%.
The new technology will help many people with chronic back pain return to a normal life and not abuse painkillers. Therefore, Intracept has already been ordered by many medical centers in the United States. Perhaps in the future, this way to stop pain will become a standard procedure around the world.
